Abstract
The urinary excretion of free amino acids was determined by method of column and paper chromatography on 15 non-pregnant and pregnant women respectively. The following results were obtained: 1) In the non-pregnant urine; A large amount of free amino acids, histidine, glycine, lysine, serine, threonine, tyrosine, alanine and phenylanine, was detected in that order, and in a few cases small amount of tryptophan, valine, leucine, isoleucine, arginine, proline and methionine was also detected. 2) In the pregnant urine; Free amino acids, threonine and histidine, were dedted in remarkably larger amount than in the non-pregnat urine, and glycine, lysine, tryptophan, tyrosine and serine were also detected in slight amount than in the non-pregnant urine. The content of other amino acids was almost the same as in the non-pregnant urine. 3) In distribution of urinary free amino acids, no significant variation was observed through the period of gestation.
